WOOD DALE, IL, Apr 23, 2026 – AAR CORP. has installed 7,770 solar panels across six buildings at its Airframe MRO facility in Greensboro, North Carolina, a project that is expected to reduce annual carbon emissions by about 2,000 metric tons and offset half of the site’s energy use.
The solar system can send excess electricity back to the grid when panel output exceeds facility demand. The installation forms part of the company’s sustainability efforts at the Greensboro site.
Pisgah Energy designed, developed and installed the solar panels. The company also carried out a solar feasibility study and a glare hazard analysis for the project. That work was completed in collaboration with the FAA and Piedmont Triad International Airport.
“Installing solar photovoltaic on airport property is challenging in and of itself. The sheer scale of the AAR project is on a different level, demonstrating a strong commitment to reducing CO2e emissions through the generation of on-site renewable energy. In fact, at 4.6MWdc, collectively, these projects represent Guilford County’s largest rooftop solar installation. As a Greensboro native, it’s a real point of pride for my company to have played a part in that achievement,” said Evan Becka, Pisgah Energy’s president and senior project developer.
“As we celebrate Earth Day, we are proud to add solar panels to another facility, further demonstrating our investment in sustainability,” said Jessica Garascia, AAR’s leader of sustainability efforts and its senior vice president, general counsel, chief administrative officer, and secretary.
