ABB Delivers Power Systems for Applied Digital’s AI Campus

A new AI campus expands power capacity by using low- and medium-voltage electrical systems to support high-density data centers and enable scaling in large 25-megawatt blocks

ZURICH, Switzerland, Nov 14, 2025 – ABB expanded its partnership with Applied Digital to supply power infrastructure for the company’s second AI factory campus in North Dakota. The collaboration includes a medium-voltage electrical system built to meet the power demands of data centers running AI workloads. As part of this partnership, ABB booked the second order in the fourth quarter of 2025.

Applied Digital’s Polaris Forge 2 campus near Harwood, North Dakota, will cover 300 MW of AI data centers across two buildings scheduled to come online in 2026 and 2027. The site is also planned for future expansion. Through the project, ABB will supply low- and medium-voltage electrical architecture to support power distribution and improve efficiency, including work aimed at achieving a low PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness).

Applied Digital reported that the initial 200 MW of capacity at the Polaris Forge 2 campus will be leased to a U.S.-based hyperscaler. ABB’s partnership was first announced in June 2025, supporting the design and development of Polaris Forge 1, a 400 MW AI factory campus in Ellendale, ND. Both campuses use ABB’s HiPerGuard Uninterruptible Power Supply Systems (UPS) and medium-voltage switchgear.
