ZURICH, Switzerland, Sep 17, 2026 – ABB has launched the PFM 20 Ex, a dust monitoring device built for hazardous and harsh industrial environments. The unit carries ATEX Zone 22 certification and a certified dust detection range down to 7.5 mg/m³.
The device adds to ABB’s industrial emission measurement portfolio, which spans continuous emission monitoring systems, dust and gas flow measurement, and portable hydrocarbon detection. ABB added the dust, gas flow and portable hydrocarbon lines through its 2024 acquisition of Födisch Group, a German manufacturer of measurement and analytical equipment.
“The PFM 20 Ex is an important product launch in its own right, giving customers high-sensitivity dust monitoring for hazardous environments,” said Jean-Rene Roy, global business line manager at ABB’s measurement & analytics division. “This also represents a significant addition to our highly capable industrial emission measurement portfolio enabling us to support a broader range of customer needs, from continuous gas analysis to dust, gas flow and portable measurement.”
ABB’s industrial emission measurement portfolio comprises:
- Continuous emission monitoring systems (CEMS): the ACF5000 and MCA 10 CEMS
- Particulate and flow analyzers: the PFM 20, PFM 13 and OPM 19 ED dust analyzers, plus the FMD 09 gas flow analyzer
- Portable Flame Ionization Detectors (FIDs): for on-site, real-time hydrocarbon detection
ABB supports the instruments with remote and on-site service with flexible care agreements. Its “My Measurement Assistant+ (MMA+)” software handles device operations with device health status, along with AI-powered device-specific knowledge and support.
