ZURICH, Switzerland, Sep 3, 2026 – ABB has achieved Type III Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certification for six industrial sensors used in chemical processing, oil and gas, and water and wastewater systems. The declarations use Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) studies to report each product’s environmental effects throughout its life cycle.
Type II EPDs are issued by manufacturers, while Type III declarations require verification by a qualified independent assessor. Both follow Product Category Rules (PCRs), which define how environmental data is measured and reported for specific product categories.
In 2025, ABB led the development of complementary PCR (c-PCR) for industrial sensors. The rules adapt the main electrical and electronic equipment category to cover this product segment.
The industrial sensor EPD certified products are ABB’s PGS300 gauge pressure transmitter, PDS300 differential pressure transmitter, AquaMaster flowmeter, FSV450 Vortex flowmeter, AWT420 universal four-wire transmitter and TZIDC positioner. The sensors are used in chemical, oil and gas, and water and wastewater operations, where process monitoring affects efficiency and safety.
