ZURICH, Switzerland, Mar 30, 2026 – ABB has secured additional orders from VoltaGrid for data center power projects supporting artificial intelligence (AI) workloads. The agreement, signed March 25, 2026, in Houston during CERAWeek, extends the companies’ collaboration on power infrastructure for hyperscale computing. ABB will book the orders in Q2, 2026. ABB will supply 35 synchronous condensers with flywheels and prefabricated eHouse units. These systems provide voltage stability within VoltaGrid’s behind-the-meter power setups for AI computing systems.
ABB’s synchronous condensers stabilize the grid by providing instant inertia, supporting short-circuit events, and maintaining voltage through reactive power control. These functions help data centers operate under high-density data center loads. ABB also supplies medium- and low-voltage distribution infrastructure and excitation systems to support operation and uptime.
“VoltaGrid’s power platform is purpose-built to deliver large-scale power with exceptional dynamic performance and reliability for next-generation digital infrastructure,” said Nathan Ough, CEO of VoltaGrid. “By integrating ABB’s advanced grid stabilization technologies with our AI-optimized power systems, we are able to meet increasingly stringent transient performance requirements while accelerating deployment at gigawatt scale.”

VoltaGrid designs its solutions to balance performance, efficiency, noise reduction, and space use. As energy demand rises and grid complexity increases, ABB provides automation, electrification, and digital systems to support reliable and scalable data center operations worldwide.
“Extending our collaboration with VoltaGrid demonstrates the strength of ABB’s businesses working together combining automation, electrification and motion expertise and technologies with innovative distributed power systems to create greater value for customers,” said Per Erik Holsten, president of ABB’s energy industries division. “Together, we are enabling reliable, resilient and scalable power infrastructure for data centers serving the rapidly growing AI economy.”
