Acelab Adds Bidirectional Revit Sync to Material Hub

by | Apr 2, 2026

The update adds two-way data sync and automated keynotes for material selection in Revit design and documentation workflows

NEW YORK, NY, Apr 2, 2026 – Acelab released bidirectional Revit integration for Material Hub platform, enabling two-way synchronization of material data across design and documentation workflows. The update includes automated keynote generation to reduce manual coordination and support material selection from design through construction documents. It shifts material data into earlier project stages, reducing reliance on late-stage documentation.

Bidirectional Revit Integration: Design and Documentation Sync

Material Hub synchronizes Revit models and project specifications through two-way data exchange. Material selections populate Revit families with specification data, while updates in either application propagate automatically. This maintains consistency between drawings and specifications and reduces coordination errors.

“As former CEO of Revit, I understand that architects need a platform for materials that works the same way design and documentation do – integrated, coordinated, and synchronized,” said David Lemont, executive chairman of Acelab. “Material decisions shouldn’t live in separate systems that require manual coordination. This integration brings material intelligence into the design process where it belongs, eliminating the errors and rework that plague traditional workflows.”

Automated Keynote Generation

Material Hub generates drawing annotations from its database of more than 200,000 products through an automated keynote system. In Revit workflows, Material Hub generates CSI MasterFormat-based keynotes that update as material selections change and remain consistent across drawing sets. This maintains consistency between specifications and Revit drawings and reduces documentation effort and coordination errors.

Workflow Impact

“When I was in practice, keynote automation was one of the biggest challenges we faced. Managing keynotes through spreadsheets meant we always ran the risk of the data being out of date by the time we needed it. Now they generate automatically from Material Hub and stay synchronized with your specifications. The efficiency gain is substantial, but the accuracy is what makes this genuinely valuable,” said Vardhan Mehta, CEO of Acelab.

Material Data in Early Design

Material Hub supports analysis of sustainability metrics, cost factors, and code compliance during schematic design. Material decisions made early in the process propagate to later project stages without re-entry or manual coordination. Material Hub records selected and rejected materials as shared firm data rather than storing them in individual project files.

Availability

The bidirectional Revit integration and automated keynote system are available in Material Hub Pro, a paid upgrade of the platform.
