TAIPEI, Taiwan, Oct 21, 2025 – Advantech introduced the MIC-780, a fanless industrial box PC powered by Intel processors (Arrow Lake-S) with an integrated neural processing unit (NPU). Designed for industrial AI workloads, MIC-780 combines high computing performance, modular expansion, and robust design to support automation and digital manufacturing applications.

MIC-780 provides edge computing with up to 24 cores and 128GB DDR5 ECC memory, supporting multiple AI workloads. It includes three digital display outputs, four GbE LAN ports, and four USB 3.2 ports for system integration. MIC-780 features Advantech’s modular iDoor and Flex I/O technologies and supports 12 types of i-Modules. Designed for space-constrained and harsh environments, it supports a 12–36 VDC power input and meets MIL-STD-810G standards, with global certifications (e.g. CB, UL, CCC, BSMI, KCC).

The MIC-780 is designed for offline edge AI applications in manufacturing. It manages multi-task operations across industries such as IEM (machine tools, semiconductor, robotics), factory automation, warehouse & logistics automation, and ITS (Intelligent Transportation System).

Redefining Performance and Sustainability with Intel Core Ultra Processors (Series 2)

Powered by Intel core ultra series 2 processors, the MIC-780 delivers up to 20% higher performance than previous versions. Its built-in NPU provides up to 36 TOPS of AI computing power, enabling efficient edge AI workloads.

The NPU supports low-latency, power-efficient inference for computer vision, predictive maintenance, and automated control. This architecture improves productivity in manufacturing, logistics, and industrial automation while lowering power consumption and supporting ESG goals.

Flexible I/O Expansion to Meet Diverse Industrial Needs

The MIC-780 supports a range of industrial applications with Advantech’s Flex I/O and iDoor modular expansion technologies, providing flexible and scalable configurations. It offers high-speed connections, 1GbE (with PoE), 2.5GbE, and 10GbE Ethernet, along with NVMe storage and up to 8-port USB 3.2.

The iDoor modules add options such as COM, GPIO, PoE, and CANBus interfaces. Its fanless, front-access design makes it suitable for edge AI, factory automation, and industrial control in harsh environments.

All-New 12 i-Modules for Ultra-Flexible PCIe/PCI Expansion

The MIC-780 supports PCIe Gen5 x16, offering twice the bandwidth of PCIe Gen4 for faster data processing and high-speed networking.

It will support 12 new i-Modules with 1–4 slot options for PCIe and PCI. These modules accommodate frame grabbers, LAN/PoE/USB cards, motion control cards, storage modules, and GPUs up to 600W.

The modular design lets users scale performance, increase I/O capacity, and adjust computing for tasks such as AI inference, deep learning, machinery control, quality inspection, and data analysis. The i-Module architecture reduces development time, accelerates deployment, and enables plug-and-play scalability for industrial PC setups. With its computing performance and flexible expansion capabilities, the MIC-780 supports manufacturing and automation applications.
