Dassault Systèmes is expanding artificial intelligence within its 3DEXPERIENCE platform, introducing agentic capabilities that support engineering, simulation, manufacturing, and product lifecycle management. However, engineering organizations operating multiple software systems still face challenges accessing information scattered across their digital environments, says Leo AI.
The 3DEXPERIENCE platform integrates CATIA, ENOVIA, SIMULIA, and DELMIA through a shared data model. This structure connects design geometry, product configurations, simulation results, and manufacturing information, reducing the need to synchronize separate systems.
At 3DEXPERIENCE World 2026, Dassault introduced three AI-powered Virtual Companions focused on program management, complex engineering, and scientific simulation. These assistants interpret user intent and apply structured industrial knowledge to support engineering decisions.
However, their capabilities primarily operate within the 3DEXPERIENCE environment. Organizations maintaining legacy CATIA V5 files, Solidworks assemblies, separate PLM systems, or supplier documentation outside the platform may require additional tools.
Leo AI addresses this challenge by providing a cross-system intelligence layer. Rather than replacing ENOVIA or Dassault’s native assistants, it connects engineering information across PDM, PLM, ERP, and file systems.
Its integrations include Solidworks PDM, Autodesk Vault, PTC Windchill, Siemens Teamcenter, and Arena PLM. According to Leo, its knowledge base incorporates more than one million pages of engineering standards, books, and technical articles.
Engineers can retrieve historical design decisions, identify relevant standards, and locate information about previously developed components without searching individual repositories.
The article recommends combining native AI capabilities with cross-platform knowledge retrieval, particularly for organizations managing legacy engineering data or transitioning between software environments.
Security remains essential. Engineering teams should evaluate data protection, regulatory compliance, and intellectual property safeguards before introducing additional AI systems.
For mechanical engineers, the emerging approach combines AI-assisted engineering within 3DEXPERIENCE with broader access to organizational knowledge, helping preserve design history and support more informed technical decisions.
