DroneDeploy has launched Progress AI, an advanced visual intelligence tool that automates construction progress tracking using aerial drone imagery and 360° walkthroughs—no BIM or schedule data required. The system employs vision-language models (VLMs), which understand what’s visible in captured images and convert them into structured progress insights, tells AEC Magazine.
With Progress AI, superintendents and project managers can receive near-instant progress summaries across all trades and floors—“in minutes, not hours,” said James Stripe, chief product officer at DroneDeploy. Reports are highly accurate and support mission-critical tasks such as milestone verification, payment applications, and conflict reduction—all without adding personnel or complexity.
A standout feature is its natural-language interface: users can ask questions like “Where are we behind on drywall this week?” and instantly receive answers based on the latest site capture.
Early adopters praise Progress AI as a real-time virtual superintendent that surfaces site heatmaps, highlights discrepancies, and helps avoid costly rework—such as identifying framing errors in time to correct them.
For AEC professionals, Progress AI offers a compelling blend of speed, accuracy, simplicity, and scalability—transforming how construction progress is captured, analyzed, and communicated.
