WASHINGTON, DC, Mar 16, 2026 – The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has signed a sponsorship agreement with Trimble to support professional education and industry engagement across architecture and design. The partnership will contribute to AIA continuing education programs, research and event panels focused on architecture practice and digital design. Trimble will also participate in AIA knowledge communities and provide technical expertise for professional development. AIA members will gain access to training and resources that demonstrate how 3D design software supports building design and project development.
“United by a shared vision for the future of the built environment, we’re excited about the opportunities this relationship will shepherd,” said Andrew Flank, senior vice president of sales, events & exhibitions at AIA. “Strategic partners help fund key initiatives, empowering AIA to provide valuable resources to members while upholding independence and mission alignment.”
AIA will provide Trimble with opportunities to participate in architecture education programs, industry discussions, and knowledge community activities. The collaboration supports engagement between Trimble and AIA members through events, research activities, and professional development programs.
“We are committed to helping architects move their digital designs from concept to reality,” said Chris Cronin, VP & GM of architecture, design and education at Trimble. “Teaming up with AIA creates meaningful intersections between technology and practice, empowering architects to design with greater confidence, iterate faster and deliver more resilient, high-impact outcomes for their clients and communities.”
Trimble provides building construction and design software, including the SketchUp platform. SketchUp began as a standalone 3D modeling tool and has expanded into a collaborative design environment. Millions of professionals use SketchUp across architecture, construction, and design workflows, supporting digital design and project planning.
