PARIS, France, Dec 23, 2025 – Air Liquide will invest about 25 million euros to upgrade its Air Separation Unit (ASU) in Yulin, China, increasing oxygen production capacity while reducing CO2 emissions. The project supports a contract extension with a subsidiary of the Yanchang Group. Air Liquide has electrified two facilities in Tianjin, replacing fossil-based power with electricity. The Yulin upgrade extends that approach to another production site and aligns with China’s 2030/2060 carbon targets. The investment supports industrial customers seeking lower-emission oxygen supplies.

Air Liquide plans to invest about 25 million euros to convert its Yulin ASU from steam-driven to electricity-driven system. The site is located in Shaanxi Province, a key industrial region in China. The conversion will reduce CO2 emissions by 224,000 tons per year. As the plant increases its use of low-carbon electricity, annual emissions reductions are expected to reach 550,000 tons.

The upgraded ASU will increase oxygen output by 10% and enter service by the end of 2027. Air Liquide will will ensure the continuity of services during the transition. The contract was signed in Beijing during a visit by French President Emmanuel Macron. The agreement aligns with China’s 2030 carbon peaking and 2060 carbon neutrality targets.

Ronnie Chalmers, Air Liquide group vice president, APAC commented: “”We are thankful for the continued trust from Yanchang Petroleum Group, a valued partner for almost two decades. This investment underscores Air Liquide’s commitment to grow and reduce the carbon emissions of its operations while contributing to its customers’ decarbonization journey with tailored solutions. The shift towards reducing carbon emissions is an ongoing movement in China, and our company is proud to be actively supporting it while managing to grow.”
