PARIS, France, July 15, 2026 – The Air Liquide Group will invest $200 M USD in a Partial Oxidation (POX) unit at Oxea’s Bay City site to produce syngas and low-carbon hydrogen for Oxea’s chemical operations. The plant will use a CO₂ recycling loop expected to cut Air Liquide’s net emissions by about 64,000 tons per year.
The POX unit is scheduled for early 2029. It will supply large-scale syngas and low-carbon hydrogen to support Oxea’s chemical demand, including its oxo-alcohols and performance chemicals operations.
The new plant will recirculate CO₂ back into Oxea’s reactor to adjust syngas composition and production. Air Liquide said the facility will partially replace some existing units. The project also expands Air Liquide’s pipeline network and industrial footprint in the U.S. Gulf Coast.
