PARIS, France, Jan 26, 2026 – Air Liquide reports progress in its voluntary low-carbon electricity sourcing program under its Climate Transition Plan. In 2025, the company started multi-year power purchase agreements (PPAs) totaling 3 TWh per year to support long-term decarbonization.

The strategy focuses on regions with carbon-intensive power grids to achieve larger emission reductions. In 2025, it expanded to India through the group’s first power purchase agreements (PPAs), alongside ongoing efforts in China and South Africa.

Air Liquide’s PPAs signed since 2020 support CO2 reductions of 3.5 million tons per year, with full ramp-up expected by 2027. This also allows the company to supply low-carbon industrial gases to customers working toward their own decarbonization goals.

More than 40%1 of purchased power comes from low-carbon sources as Air Liquide reshapes its global energy mix. Low-carbon electricity sourcing anchors its decarbonization roadmap, supported by asset efficiency measures, carbon capture and storage.

Air Liquide is reinforcing low-carbon electricity sourcing by electrifying its remaining non-electrified Air Separation Units (ASUs). For example, the Shaanxi ASU electrification announced in December 2025, combined with low-carbon energy, is expected to reduce annual group emissions by up to 550,000 tons.

Diana Schillag, member of Air Liquide’s executive committee in charge of sustainable development, stated: “The ongoing deployment of our voluntary low-carbon electricity sourcing program is concrete evidence of our commitment to transforming our energy mix, securing additional low-carbon capacity on top of grid transition in geographies where we operate. Our goal is to maximize the impact of our actions on overall emissions reduction. It highlights the Group’s agility in using the best levers at hand to lower emissions as effectively as possible, particularly in carbon-intensive countries, while providing our customers with low-carbon solutions and supporting their own decarbonization efforts.”
