MUNICH, Germany, June 17, 2026 – SDS2 is entering the German market as ALLPLAN’s steel detailing and fabrication platform for BIM-based modeling, connection design, and fabrication workflows. The software, already used in North America, is aimed at steel structural engineers, fabricators, and engineering firms.
Steel construction companies are managing complex projects, shorter schedules, and stricter quality and documentation requirements. Fabrication data also must be delivered quickly and reliably. SDS2 uses a model-based workflow in which connections are generated and checked during modeling. The resulting 3D model supports detailing, fabrication, and assembly. According to ALLPLAN, some firms report productivity gains of up to 60%. The software generates fabrication deliverables and BIM data from a single model, reducing manual work, errors, and project costs.
“With SDS2, we offer engineering firms, structural engineers, and steel construction companies in Germany a solution that enables projects to be realized more efficiently and cost-effectively,” says Sunil Pandita, CEO of ALLPLAN and chief division officer planning & design at the Nemetschek Group. “End-to-end digital processes lay the foundation for higher quality, greater planning reliability, and reliable project execution.”
Intelligent Automation for Steel Construction
SDS2 combines 3D steel construction modeling, automatic connection design, and fabrication documentation in a single application. Connections are generated from the component layout and updated as the model changes. Those changes are reflected in drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and production data. The platform also supports simultaneous work by multiple users on the same project.
Key features include:
- Automatic creation and updating of structural steel connections
- Real-time multi-user modeling
- Support for open BIM standards and data exchange with BIM and fabrication software
- Collaboration between design, detailing, fabrication, and assembly
Workflow from Design to Fabrication
With SDS2, ALLPLAN is expanding its structural engineering and fabrication planning portfolio in Germany. SDS2 sits alongside ALLPLAN, FRILO, and SCIA to connect structural design, analysis, detailing, and fabrication.
SDS2 is now available in Germany. Interested companies can request a live demonstration.
