Andes Tech Launches RVBuilder for RISC-V Development Code

by | Aug 20, 2026

The Windows and Linux tool integrates compiler management, debugging controls and MCP-based AI assistance for AndesCore projects.

HSINCHU, Taiwan, Aug 20, 2026 – Andes Technology has launched RVBuilder, a development tool built on Visual Studio Code (VS Code) that brings Andes’ compiler and debugging tools into the integrated development environment (IDE). The tool targets the RISC-V AndesCore community.

RISC-V development is moving toward more complex system-on-chip (SoC) designs, and Andes positions RVBuilder as a cross-platform, AI-assisted option for that work. RVBuilder integrates Andes’ software stacks into the VS Code interface and works alongside the AndeSight IDE, which provides multicore and trace debugging, analysis, and OS-aware support.

RVBuilder includes the following features:

  • Toolchain Management: Configure and use Andes’ C/C++ toolchains for compiling and building embedded applications.
  • Debugging Integration: Bridges AndesCore’s RISC-V debug infrastructure with the VS Code ecosystem, providing real-time execution control, breakpoint management, and register inspection in the IDE.
  • Cross-Platform Consistency: Available on Windows and Linux, with the same workflow on either operating system.
  • AI Agent Support with MCP Servers: Adds AI agent support through MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers. Developers can import sample projects, optimize compiler configurations for performance or code size, query complex flags, and control debugging through natural language instead of consulting the user manual.

“With the release of RVBuilder, we are responding to the community’s demands for more accessible and modern development environments,” said Dr. Charlie Su, president and CTO of Andes Technology. “By bringing our professional-grade toolchain to the VS Code ecosystem, we are fostering a more inclusive RISC‑V community and ensuring that the latest advancements is accessible to every developer pushing the boundaries of open architecture.”
