Aras is selected by Blykalla to deploy Aras Innovator to manage engineering data to support the small modular reactor (SMR) program. The system will integrate requirements, design data, assets, and documentation to support traceability and configuration control in a nuclear development environment.
Blykalla is developing lead-cooled fast reactors designed for baseload power generation. The program targets applications that require continuous and stable energy supply, including energy-intensive industries and infrastructure supporting AI workloads. As development progresses, the company is managing increasing engineering complexity and long-term lifecycle data requirements.
“Developing advanced nuclear systems requires rigorous control over requirements, configuration, and change across the entire lifecycle,” said Michaela Casarella, configuration manager at Blykalla. “Aras Innovator provides the flexibility and visibility we need to manage this complexity while supporting our long-term vision for scalable SMR deployment.”
Aras Innovator will act as a central system for managing product and plant lifecycle data. It integrates requirements, designs, assets, and documentation into a single environment. Built on an open architecture, the platform supports systems engineering and configuration management and integrates with engineering and simulation environments. It also maintains traceability across the lifecycle, linking requirements, design changes, and operational data.
“Blykalla is building a standards-aligned, future-ready digital environment designed to evolve alongside its SMR program,” said Leon Lauritsen, CEO of Aras. “Aras Innovator provides the foundation to connect product and plant lifecycle data from early design through operation, enabling the traceability, collaboration, and control required to manage complex, highly regulated systems.”
Blykalla is using Aras Innovator to strengthen collaboration and reduce risks linked to fragmented data and configuration errors. The deployment supports its digitalization strategy to improve data governance, consolidate engineering and plant information, and maintain records for regulatory compliance as the SMR program advances.
