SAN JOSE, CA, Oct 9, 2026 – Astera Labs has expanded its Aries 7 portfolio with PCIe 7 signal conditioning components for copper and optical connections in AI systems. The Aries 7 family covers links within circuit boards and between racks, with sampling expected to begin in Q4, 2026.
The portfolio includes Smart Retimers, Smart Redrivers, Smart Cable Modules, Smart Optical Drivers and optical TIAs. Astera Labs supports connections ranging from centimeters of circuit board trace to more than 50 meters over optical cables. It is intended for hyperscalers, neoclouds, OEMs and ODMs.
The Aries 7 Smart Retimers and Smart Redrivers support the OCP Signal Conditioner standard footprint. According to Astera Labs, the footprint lets customers choose different signal conditioners as design requirements change without redesigning the board.
Astera Labs’ COSMOS software suite monitors and optimizes the copper and optical connections. Smart Optical Drivers and optical TIAs are designed for low-power, high-density NPO and LPO applications in AI systems spanning multiple racks.
Astera Labs says AMD and Intel have validated Aries Smart Retimers in production across their platforms from PCIe 4 through PCIe 6. Both companies are now collaborating with Astera Labs on the transition to PCIe 7.
“The real question for architects isn’t retimer vs redriver, or copper vs optical: it’s whether they have one comprehensive toolbox with the optionality to pick the right tool for their evolving reach, density and power requirements” said Adit Narasimha, senior vice president, signal connectivity group at Astera Labs. “That is what we built with Aries: the same intelligence and the same software, for the solution the link needs.”
Raghu Nambiar, corporate vice president, data center ecosystems and solutions, AMD added: “As AI infrastructure grows across servers and racks, customers need open connectivity options that work with their platform designs. AMD is advancing a broad portfolio of compute and connectivity technologies, and we work with ecosystem partners such as Astera Labs to help customers build flexible, interoperable AI systems.”
Srini Krishna, Fellow, Intel data center group commented: “As systems continue to scale, reliable high-speed connectivity is essential to keeping compute resources efficiently utilized. Intel’s collaboration with Astera Labs builds on multiple generations of PCIe retimer validation and extends that proven interoperability toward PCIe 7, helping customers design scalable platforms with greater confidence and flexibility.”
