atNorth will route surplus heat from its DEN02 data center campus in Ølgod, Denmark, to a greenhouse development operated by Selected Group. The greenhouses will be built adjacent to the data center, within the local plan area. The first phase is expected to be completed in Q3 2028. The project is designed to scale in tandem with DEN02’s development. Reused heat will lower carbon output compared with traditional fossil-heated greenhouse operations.
Most fresh fruit and vegetables sold in Denmark are imported, particularly in winter, when domestic production is limited. The arrangement is intended to support year-round local food production and reduce reliance on imported produce. Construction and ongoing operations will also create local jobs in the Ølgod community.
atNorth has pursued similar arrangements at other sites. The company recycles surplus heat from its DEN01 data center through a partnership with Vestforbrænding, works with Kesko Corporation in Finland to heat a local store, and partners with Stockholm Exergi at its SWE01 campus to heat local homes and businesses.
