REYKJAVÍK, Iceland, Aug 21, 2025 – atNorth has announced the sale of its High-Performance Computing as a Service platform, Gompute, to IT services business Advania. The acquisition is expected to be completed during the third quarter of 2025, subject to regulatory approvals.
Advania is one of atNorth’s customers, with workloads hosted in multiple sites. Originally located at atNorth’s ICE01 site in Reykjavík, Iceland, Advania has expanded its footprint across Sweden, Finland and recently to atNorth’s ICE03 data center, in Akureyri, Iceland.
Advania and atNorth are both expanding, with Advania expanding its business to new markets in 2024. The partnership will deepen stronger as Gompute’s platform aligns with Advania’s plan to develop ‘AI-ready’ sovereignty clouds across its sites. AtNorth will continue to support the platform by hosting it in its data centers.
“Driven by continued growing demand for atNorth’s services, we are sharpening our focus on high-density colocation and build-to-suit data centers,” said Eyjólfur Magnús Kristinsson, CEO of atNorth. “Gompute has played a key role in our HPC journey, and its evolution with Advania marks an exciting next chapter. Advania’s AI-ready sovereign cloud vision aligns seamlessly with the platform, and hosting it in our high-density data centers will enhance our strategic partnership and deliver a powerful solution for the market’s evolving needs.”
“The acquisition of the Gompute platform is an important milestone in Advania’s journey to deliver sovereign AI services across Northern Europe,” said Hege Störe, CEO of Advania. “I am delighted to welcome Gompute’s talented team to Advania, and together we will build the infrastructure foundation that gives our customers the speed, efficiency and resilience they need for their AI and HPC workloads.”
