WEST MIDLANDS, UK, July 24, 2025 – Alloy Wire International (AWI) has expanded its capacity and upgraded technology in response to increased global and U.S. orders for round, flat, and profile wire. The company has added 8,000 square feet to its Brierley Hill headquarters and invested nearly £100,000 in new equipment.
AWI has renovated two units at its Narrowboat Way site to improve production flow and accommodate additional machinery. The upgrades include equipment designed to produce high-performance wire for demanding environments. This is essential for meeting the specification of clients in automotive, nuclear, and aerospace sectors.
AWI has expanded its staff to 33, adding a lab technician to its testing department. Andy Tomlinson joined last month and handles internal trials, supports R&D and tests alloys before shipped to customers.
Tom Mander, managing director, said, “There are few companies in our sector who can continuously offer the turnaround times that we can – especially in this era of supply chain disruption. This is a massive USP for our business and allows us to win work from nearly 70 different countries, supplying critical material to clients operating in automotive, aerospace, defense, medical, nuclear, and space.”
He continued, “In order to maintain our level of manufacturing and delivery performance, we have to continue to invest in our capacity. Acquiring and refurbishing the two recent units – totaling more than 8,000 sq. ft. – is critical to achieving this.
“At the same time, we have successfully spent more than £30,000 on laser-guided measuring equipment. Its sensors determine when the wire is out of tolerance, with automatic shutdown function when this happens. This means that it doesn’t have to be manually monitored with a micrometer, saving us both time and resource.”
Tom Mander added, “Our quality and attention to detail is second to none, and we wanted to support our testing team with the addition of a new specialist. Again, this will ensure we can deliver the fastest and most accurate testing, while keeping lead times as short as possible.”
AWI expects the improvements to strengthen its ability to provide wire products and fast delivery for U.S. and global customers.
