AWI Reports 20% Rise in Aerospace Wire Orders Ahead of Farnborough

The UK manufacturer will showcase Nimonic 90, Waspaloy, Haynes 282 and Inconel 718 at the airshow, as defense spending drives demand for high-temperature alloy wire used in engine components and fasteners.

Orders for Alloy Wire International’s (AWI) high-temperature, corrosion-resistant alloy wire have risen 20% as aerospace and defense suppliers source material for springs, fire detection wire, fasteners, electrical instruments and engine components.

AWI will show Nimonic 90, Waspaloy, Haynes 282 and Inconel 718 at Farnborough International Airshow (Stand 1320 in Hall 1). The nickel alloys are used in applications that require high temperature and corrosion resistance across commercial and defense aerospace supply chains.

Paul Chatterley, sales executive at AWI said: “This is our seventh time at Farnborough and is a show we believe will help us grow our aerospace revenues considerably, as all key decision makers, engineers and procurement specialists arrive from around the world.”

“We have seen a £150,000 increase in orders so far in 2026 and believe there is further opportunities to extend this, with an increase in defense spending both at home and overseas.”

He continued: “Customers have access to more than 400 tons of DFARS-approved material in stock at any one time and our three-week lead times continue to be the best in the industry.”

AWI has invested £1.1 million in its manufacturing facility in the West Midlands. The spending includes an additional unit to increase capacity and throughput, a new furnace and rolling equipment.

The company supplies wire from 0.025 mm (.001″) to 21 mm (.827″) in small batches and medium volumes. The added capacity will support customer orders during a period of higher defense spending and economic volatility.

“Although a fourth-tier supplier to the aerospace sector, we know our material plays an important role in engine components and high temperature parts, such as sealing rings and fuel pipes…there’s tens of different applications to be fair,” added Paul.

“Our team of technical experts have years of experience working with customers to come up with wire specifications that match exact requirements, including intense heat and corrosion resistance and, let’s not forget, components destined for safety critical environments.”

He concluded: “The other big feature of the Farnborough International Air Show is the lessons we learn. It’s such a hotbed of thinking, best practice and latest trends that we can actively absorb, bringing them back to our factory and then implementing them on our shopfloor.”
