BAE Systems Names Former U.S. Rep. Derek Kilmer to Board

Former Washington lawmaker served on Armed Services, Appropriations and Science, Space & Technology committees

BAE Systems announced former U.S. Rep. Derek Kilmer to its board, bringing defense, appropriations and science and technology policy experience to the company. Kilmer represented Washington’s Sixth Congressional District for six terms and served on House committees related to national security, federal spending and technology policy.

Greenert, chair of the Board of BAE Systems. “Derek brings a wealth of leadership experience at the highest levels of government, and his proven record of championing national security and technology will be invaluable as we continue to advance our mission to support our customers.”

Kilmer currently serves as senior vice president of U.S. Program and Policy for The Rockefeller Foundation. He leads the foundation’s economic opportunity agenda and its global and domestic policy teams. Before joining The Rockefeller Foundation, Kilmer represented Washington’s Sixth Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives for six terms. He chaired the select committee on the modernization of Congress and served on the Appropriations, Armed Services and Science, Space & Technology committees.

Kilmer previously served in the Washington State Senate and the Washington State House of Representatives. He also worked as a consultant for McKinsey & Company, advising global organizations on business operations.

Kilmer earned a bachelor’s degree from Princeton University and holds a doctorate from the University of Oxford.
