CloudNC Adds CAM Assist to GibbsCAM for Axis Machining

The release adds automated strategy generation for three- and three-plus-two-axis machines, with review controls before output returns to the CAM workflow.

Machine shops that program parts with GibbsCAM can now generate machining strategies for 3 and 3+2 axis CNC machines with AI, as CloudNC‘s CAM Assist solution is now available as an add-on to GibbsCAM.

GibbsCAM is the CAM platform shops use from daily production runs to geometrically demanding components. The add-on keeps those programmers inside their existing GibbsCAM environment while handing the toolpath generation to AI.

CAM Assist produces machining strategies in minutes or seconds, depending on part complexity, where the same work can take a CNC programmer hour or days. That shortens programming time, a bottleneck on the factory floor, and reduces the time spent estimating what a new component will cost to program.

The rollout includes CAM Assist 2.0. The upgrade pairs AI-generated toolpaths with step-by-step oversight. Programmers can configure machines, materials and tool assemblies, assess parts before running, and review AI suggestions as they are made. A Strategy Editor lets them inspect, adjust and approve machining strategies before sending them back into GibbsCAM.
