Diehl Aviation has expanded aerospace production capacity at its Dresden site with a new production building for its Supply Systems Strategic Business Segment, as the business marks 80 years of aerospace operations.

“The new building enables us to expand our capabilities and reliably support our customers’ growing demand, while reinforcing Dresden’s importance within Diehl Aviation’s global production network,” said Robert Hellwig, CEO of Diehl Aviation’s Supply Systems Strategic Business Segment.

Saxony’s Minister-President Michael Kretschmer attended the inauguration ceremony. Minister-President Michael Kretschmer said: “Saxony is a leading hub for innovation and technology in Europe. The aerospace industry has been one of our Free State’s flagship sectors for many years. Thanks to its expertise in electronics and lightweight construction, Saxony provides the perfect environment for cutting-edge research and development. Success stories like that of Diehl Aviation Gilching demonstrate this impressively. Congratulations on 80 years of company history, and here’s to many more successful anniversaries!”

The Supply Systems Strategic Business Segment traces its roots to AOA Apparatebau Gauting, founded in 1946. The business has developed into a supplier of aircraft systems for water, air, fire protection, and oxygen supply, with engineering and manufacturing operations in Dresden and Gilching.

Over eight decades, Supply Systems has expanded from component manufacturing to integrated system solutions. As part of Diehl Aviation’s global organization, it supports aircraft manufacturers worldwide.
