OTTAWA, Canada, Feb 23, 2026 – Draganfly has welcomed the Government of Canada’s Defence Industrial Strategy and will take part in its implementation. The company will participate in the Canadian Army’s first Collaborative Uncrewed Aircraft Systems Working Group starting Feb 23, in Ottawa, Canada.
Prime Minister Mark Carney introduced a new Defence Industrial Strategy to strengthen Canada’s defense supply chains and expand domestic production. The plan also includes rebuilding and rearming the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF). It places priority on uncrewed and autonomous aerial systems as part of Canada’s updated defense industrial strategy.
On Monday, February 23, Draganfly will participate in the Canadian Army Minerva Uncrewed Aircraft Systems Working Group, an event aligned with the Defence Industrial Strategy. The strategy designates drones as a sovereign defense capability and calls for investment in domestic expertise and partnerships with Canadian defense firms, including Draganfly. The framework aims to strengthen supply chains and sustain in-country production for the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF).
The Defence Industrial Strategy prioritizes Canadian defense capabilities and a “Build in Canada” procurement model. It focuses on strengthening domestic production, expanding national defense expertise and advancing uncrewed aircraft systems. Draganfly’s participation in the working group aligns with these objectives as Canada advances domestic drone and defense manufacturing capacity.
