Epson Completes Japan Factory to Quadruple PrecisionCore Output

Expands production capacity to meet rising demand for printheads used in office, commercial, and industrial inkjet printers across global printing markets

TOKYO, Japan, Oct 14, 2025 – Epson has completed construction of Building No. 6, a new factory designed to expand its printhead manufacturing capacity. The facility, built with a 5.1-billion-yen investment, will enable Epson to quadruple its future printhead production capacity.

Epson’s printing solutions business provides Micro Piezo inkjet technology products and services for office, home, commercial, and industrial markets. The company expects persistent demand for office inkjet printers and ink tank models, especially in emerging markets.

Commercial and industrial printer demand is rising as industries shift from analog to digital processes, including applications like digital textile printing. Many printers use PrecisionCore MicroTFP printheads, which combine multiple MicroTFP chips in various combinations.

Epson’s printing solutions business provides Micro Piezo inkjet technology-based products and services to customers in the office, home, commercial and industrial markets.

Many commercial and industrial inkjet printers are using PrecisionCore MicroTFP printheads. These printheads can be flexibly adapted for different applications by assembling MicroTFP print chips in various combinations.

Epson expects growth in the use of PrecisionCore printheads in commercial, industrial and inkjet multifunction printers.

Epson is expanding its printhead sales business to advance inkjet technology and expand digital printing applications, which have lower environmental impact than conventional methods. The company sees opportunities in emerging markets such as electronics and bioprinting. To support this growth, Epson plans to work with partners that bring new technologies. Through innovation, it will extend the capabilities of its PrecisionCore technology and drive development in digital printing.

The new building is next to Epson’s existing printhead production facility and supports a process from component manufacturing to assembly. The layout is designed to reduce labor, save space, and minimize in-process inventory. Automated transport robots handle material movement to lower the workload on operators. The stratified air-handling system reduces energy usage and operating costs. The facility improves working conditions by reducing night shift labor and provides a model for modern manufacturing.
