MONTREAL, Canada, Dec 22, 2025 – Bombardier has announced that the Global 8000 business jet has received certification from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The approval allows the aircraft to operate in the United States. The Global 8000 received Transport Canada Type certification on Nov. 5, 2025. Type certification confirms the aircraft meets national airworthiness and safety standards. Bombardier placed the aircraft into service in Dec. 2025. With certification from both Transport Canada and the FAA, the aircraft is approved for operation in Canada and the United States. Certification from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) is pending.

“This accomplishment is a direct result of the commitment to excellence and dedicated work of our highly skilled employees, suppliers, Transport Canada and the FAA for a collaborative, effective process,” said Stephen McCullough, senior vice president, engineering and product development, Bombardier. “Attaining the Global 8000 certification from the FAA sets new performance standards in the industry and marks one of the final chapters in our very successful development program for this groundbreaking business jet.”

The Global 8000 has entered service as planned following certification from Canadian and U.S. aviation authorities. The aircraft operates with a 2,691 ft. cabin altitude while cruising at 41,000 feet, the lowest cabin altitude offered in a production business jet. A lower cabin altitude reduces the effects of high-altitude flight and can help passengers maintain comfort and alertness. The Global 8000 is designed to reach a maximum speed of Mach 0.95.

The Global 8000 combines long-range capability with short-field performance. The aircraft is designed to offer an 8,000 NM range while maintaining takeoff and landing performance similar to a light jet. A wing design with leading-edge slats allows access to up to 30% more airports than its closest rival. The aircraft is configured as a four-zone business jet.
