QUÉBEC, Canada, July 8, 2026 – FARO CREAFORM has expanded the HandySCAN 3D family with four models for portable 3D scanning, covering everyday inspection workflows and metrology applications. The additions include the HandySCAN EVO and HandySCAN EVO Plus, along with two HandySCAN 3D MAX Series models: the HandySCAN MAX EVO and HandySCAN MAX EVO Elite.
The announcement is led by the next generation of the HandySCAN 3D MAX Series, represented by the HandySCAN MAX EVO and HandySCAN MAX EVO Elite. These models extend the EVO platform experience to large-part inspection while preserving the accuracy, and performance required for quality control, quality assurance, reverse engineering, and non-destructive testing.
When paired with the Mobility Kit, the MAX Series supports wireless, cable-free measurements. The scanners also include embedded screen functionality and guided workflows for scan-to-report work at the point of use. The systems are tested in ISO/IEC 17025-accredited calibration laboratories and in accordance with VDI/VDE 2634 standards.
The HandySCAN MAX EVO is positioned for product development applications and provides volumetric accuracy of 0.150 mm + 0.020 mm/m. The HandySCAN MAX EVO Elite supports inspection and NDT workflows requiring higher precision, with volumetric accuracy of 0.075 mm + 0.010 mm/m. The models add on-scanner visualization and guided workflows to the HandySCAN 3D family. The HandySCAN 3D EVO Series recently received a Red Dot Design Award.
Elite models, including the HandySCAN EVO Elite and HandySCAN MAX EVO Elite, include QR code reading for launching inspection programs.
“The evolution of the HandySCAN 3D family reflects our commitment to making metrology-grade 3D scanning more intuitive, mobile, and efficient,” said Jérôme-Alexandre Lavoie, director product management, 3D scanners at FARO CREAFORM. “With the new MAX Series, manufacturers inspecting large and complex parts can benefit from the streamlined platform experience that defines the EVO Series, while preserving accuracy required for critical inspection decisions.”
All new models work with the Creaform Metrology Suite, providing a common software environment across the HandySCAN 3D family.
