
QUÉBEC, Canada, Aug 5, 2026 – FARO CREAFORM has launched the MetraSCAN BLACK2, a metrology-grade portable optical 3D scanner that combines C-Track scanning, stand-alone scanning, and probing in a single system. The scanner uses 46 blue laser lines, captures up to 2.8 million measurements per second, and acquires data about 56% faster than the previous generation.
The C-Track Flex Volume reaches 46.7 m³, reducing the number of setups required for large-part inspection. C-Track mode handles those large parts, while stand-alone mode supports quick deployments in tight spaces. Paired with HandyPROBE, it supports probing inspections within the same workflow.
Compared with the MetraSCAN BLACK+ and BLACK+ Elite, the BLACK2 adds stand-alone scanning along with parallel scanning and probing. New hardware features include automatic shutter functionality, single-cable connectivity, and setup assistance tools. The system is tested in ISO/IEC 17025-accredited calibration laboratories, and acceptance testing follows ISO 10360 and VDI/VDE 2634 Part 3.
