QUÉBEC, Canada, May 15, 2026 – FARO CREAFORM’s HandySCAN 3D EVO Series has won the Red Dot Award for product design, adding another industrial design recognition to its handheld 3D scanning line. The scanner combines a lightweight body, 4.3-inch touchscreen, real-time visualization, and on-device controls to support inspection work without constant movement between the part and a laptop.
The award marks the 6th award for the HandySCAN 3D lineup. Red Dot receives thousands of entries each year across Product Design, Brands and Communication, and Design Concept categories.

“We at FARO CREAFORM are honored that our market-leading handheld 3D scanner has been recognized by this year’s Red Dot Award Jury,” said Fanny Truchon, FARO CREAFORM president & chief executive officer. “This highly sought‑after recognition celebrates a design philosophy that successfully unifies unmatched usability, high‑end performance, and distinctive FARO CREAFORM styling – while remaining purpose‑built for industrial environments. Products like the HandySCAN 3D EVO series exemplify our commitment to advancing 3D metrology solutions that deliver formidable accuracy and precision, while remaining intuitive across a wide range of shop‑floor applications.”
The HandySCAN 3D EVO series gives operators real-time scan feedback through its ergonomic graphical user interface (GUl). The design supports freer movement around inspected parts and reduces dependence on a separate computer during measurement tasks.

The scanner uses three mechanical buttons for menu navigation, and a distance indicator. It also connects through a single industrial push-pull secure connector, with weight distribution balanced for handheld operation.
“The novelty of its appearance, with its large touchscreen, its sleek heatsink protector grid, its discreet side bumpers and its trapezoid camera covers, offers a unique visual impact,” added Marco St-Pierre, DVP Innovation 3D Scanners. “Subtle but significant finishing touches, like the textured handle and soft touch mat black paint, that offer anti slip features, ensure enduring aesthetics.”
