PARIS, France, June 19, 2026 – HENSOLDT and Fire Point have signed a memorandum of understanding at Eurosatory trade show in Paris to develop a ballistic missile defense system. The proposed system will combine HENSOLDT radar technology with Fire Point missile, launch and control systems to detect and intercept ballistic missiles.

Under the agreement, HENSOLDT will produce, test and deliver radars for the BMD system and support their integration. The TRML-4D radar is expected to be a key component. The radar has been used in combat and is suited to the BMD application through software-based adaptability. It uses AESA (Active Electronically Scanned Array) radar technology and can detect and track around 1,500 air targets.

Fire Point will serve as prime contractor and is expected to hold overall design authority for the BMD system. It will produce, test and deliver Fire Point FP-7 missiles, including the launch and control systems. Fire Point will also integrate the main components into the system.

“The collaboration with Fire Point on FREYJA is an important step towards a scalable European contribution to ballistic missile defence,” says HENSOLDT CEO Oliver Dörre. “Ukraine has shown how quickly innovation can emerge under real operational pressure. Our task is to combine this speed with proven sensor technology, industrial scalability and system integration. Together with local manufacturers and European partners, we want to help close one of the most urgent capability gaps in air and missile defence.”
