COBHAM, UK, Oct 20, 2025 – Hexagon’s manufacturing intelligence division is expanding access to 3D scanning with the launch of the ATLASCAN Pro, a handheld laser scanner designed for ease of use. Equipped with many laser lines and an advanced processing algorithm, the ATLASCAN Pro captures 3D data accurately – assuring scanning achievable for first-time users.

The ATLASCAN Pro is a lightweight, portable 3D scanner weighing 1 kg. Its design lets operators bring the device to parts on the shop floor, such as pump housings, vehicle panels, or household appliances. The scanner operates for up to two hours on hot-swappable batteries and includes an optional Wi-Fi 7 connection. It maintains consistent performance when scanning moving parts or working in demanding environments, including propellers and pipe interiors.

The ATLASCAN Pro scans areas up to 720 by 640 mm in standard mode, scanning at up to 4 million points per second. Operators can switch between modes using a thumb control on the device. In high-precision mode, the scanner delivers a resolution over a 160 x 140 mm area.

Users can scan damaged components or electrical connectors from any angle, capturing details with less manual correction. The scanner connects to existing software workflows. Hexagon includes a starter bundle with Geomagic Design X Go software at no extra cost. This allows users to recreate parts without original design files and accelerate scan to 3D model or scan-to-print for additive manufacturing. Power users can upgrade to Geomagic Design X for CAD features or use reverse engineering software platforms.

For quality control and inspection, ATLASCAN Pro is certified to the VDI/VDE 2634-3 standard. It includes Hexagon’s HH Scan software, allowing users to perform dimensional inspections, create 3D color maps, measure geometric features, and generate reports. The scanner is software agnostic and supports Geomagic Control X and Geomagic Design X. Additional support for third-party software platforms will be available soon.

“The ATLASCAN Pro is a handheld 3D scanner that anyone can pick up and use. It puts fast professional-grade scanning in the hands of people who need it, at a very accessible price that complements our growing 3D handheld scanner offering,” said Darren Goh, product director for handheld 3D scanners at Hexagon “Not every application requires the ultra-precision Hexagon is known for, and I’m excited to see what opportunities this opens up for users who want to integrate high productivity reverse engineering, maintenance, or 3D model creation into their daily workflows – whether that’s making baths, baby toys or buses.”

ATLASCAN Pro complements Hexagon’s the metrology-grade ATLASCAN Max and MARVELSCAN. It fits within Hexagon’s handheld 3D scanner lineup, which includes the HYPERSCAN series introduced in May 2025. The HYPERSCAN models are designed for objects over 4m and moving parts with 0.05 to 0.14mm. They combine an optical tracker and scanner to enable dynamic tracking in challenging environments.
