Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence division previewed HYPERSCAN SR, a wireless optical tracking 3D scanner and the new entry point to its HYPERSCAN series.
HYPERSCAN SR runs on battery power with WiFi 6 built in, so it needs no cables. Its dynamic tracking follows the part and the scanner together, so movement and vibration do not interrupt a scan. Scanning modes include hole flash capture and edge detection, and it measures without targets. The scanner can mount on a cobot or industrial robot.
HYPERSCAN SR joins HYPERSCAN Ultra and HYPERSCAN Super to complete Hexagon’s optical scanning portfolio. In Hexagon’s lineup, HYPERSCAN SR is the wireless portable option, HYPERSCAN Ultra is built for everyday production scanning, and HYPERSCAN Super is aimed at automated inspection.
“Dynamic optical tracking keeps a scan stable even when the part moves or the setup vibrates, because the scanner and the part are tracked together in one coordinate system,” said Darren Goh, product director, Handheld 3D Scanners, Hexagon’s Portable Metrology division. “HYPERSCAN SR builds that into a fully wireless system, with WiFi 6 and battery power native to the device rather than added on. It’s quick to deploy and simple enough for everyday operators to run, so teams can bring it into limited-access and power-limited areas that a larger, cabled setup can’t reach.”
HYPERSCAN SR is designed for on-site and in-field inspection, supplier and incoming-goods verification, field service and maintenance, tooling and fixture inspection, and decentralized quality control. Target industries include automotive, rail, energy, construction, industrial equipment, consumer products, and general manufacturing.

“HYPERSCAN SR meets that need with a fully wireless design that’s quick to set up, easy to operate and provides a straightforward path into optical tracking without the complexity of traditional systems.”
HYPERSCAN SR will be on display at IMTS 2026, Sept. 14-19 (booth #13410) at McCormick Place in Chicago. The product launches later this year, with availability and pricing to follow.
