Innoviz, Regulus Test LiDAR for Counter-Drone Tracking

Evaluation uses object detection and 3D localization for low-altitude drone sensing where radar can lose accuracy

TEL AVIV, Israel, July 2, 2026 – Counter-UAS teams need precise sensing as low-altitude drones move through cluttered urban and infrastructure environments. Innoviz LiDAR will be tested with Regulus to support sub-kilometer tracking, object detection and 3D localization where radar can lose accuracy or continuity.

The collaboration combines Regulus’ counter-UAS work with Innoviz’s LiDAR capabilities. Target applications include defense systems, homeland security, infrastructure protection and government facilities.

The companies are also examining scenarios involving vegetation-obscured environments and fiber-optic controlled drones. The work focuses on maintaining location data for aerial threats that may be difficult for conventional counter-UAS systems to track.

“Innoviz is the eyes of the counter-UAS picture,” said Omer Keilaf, founder & CEO of Innoviz. “Our LiDAR delivers the precise object detection and high-accuracy 3D localization that give operators a clearer, faster read on low-altitude threats. Sensing and localization is where we focus, and where our technology adds the most value for the defense ecosystem.”
