SANTA CRUZ, CA and BOSTON, MA, Apr 9, 2026 – Joby Aviation and Air Space Intelligence (ASI) have partnered to integrate advanced air mobility (AAM) into the U.S. National Airspace System. The effort builds on ASI’s Flyways AI Platform, an open airspace intelligence platform that uses 4D modeling to optimize flight operations.

Joby and ASI will focus on how eVTOL operations can be integrated safely into complex, high-traffic airspace. Joint demonstrations, including live operational exercises, are planned later this year.

The partnership will also examine how the FAA’s Brand New Air Traffic Control System (BNATCS) will support a next generation air traffic management. The focus is on automated, software-defined airspace coordination and the integration of autonomous flight operations within controlled airspace.

“America has long set the global standard for aviation, and modernizing our airspace is key to maintaining that leadership,” said Greg Bowles, chief policy officer, Joby Aviation. “By combining Joby’s operational capabilities with ASI’s advanced AI-driven Flyways platform, we’re helping build the intelligent infrastructure needed to integrate electric air taxis seamlessly into the NAS – one of America’s most important national assets.”

“Scaling advanced air mobility requires more than new aircraft – it requires a new operating system for the airspace,” said Bernard Asare, president, civil aviation, Air Space Intelligence. “Our Flyways AI platform gives operators and controllers the predictive awareness to coordinate high-density operations proactively, not reactively. This partnership brings that same capability to eVTOL operations from day one.”

Joby Aviation and ASI will combine Joby’s flight operations and aircraft capabilities with ASI’s airspace intelligence to test how eVTOL operations can scale within the existing airspace framework. The companies expect initial results from live operational exercises by the end of 2026.

In Mar’2026, Joby completed a series of demonstration flights across the San Francisco Bay area to validate operational readiness. Joby was also selected as a partner in several projects under the White House-backed eVTOL Integration Pilot Program (eIPP). Through the program, Joby plans to begin early operations in 12 states this year, supporting its path to commercial service.

About Joby Aviation

Joby Aviation develops electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft for urban air mobility. Founded in 2009 and headquartered in Santa Cruz, CA, the company is building a piloted, five-seat aircraft intended for short-range passenger transport with an estimated range of about 100 miles and a top speed of 200 mph. Joby works in the aerospace, defense and air-mobility sectors, with operations that include aircraft development, parts manufacturing and fleet services in CA and OH. The company plans to operate its air-taxi service and also sell aircrafts. Joby is pursuing FAA certification to support a planned commercial launch targeted for 2026.
