ALTMUNSTER, Austria, May 20, 2026 – Kaltra expanded its microchannel water coil line with corrosion-resistant multiport tube technology for harsh HVAC, hydronic cooling and industrial process environments. The new coils combine thicker-wall tubes, zinc protection and nano-scale coating to reduce corrosion risk in data centers, industrial facilities, air handling units and free-cooling systems.

The coils use thicker-wall microchannel multiport tubes with a zinc protective layer. Kaltra also applies nano-scale coating to both internal and external tube surfaces to support long-term operation associated with microchannel heat exchanger technology.

The first production series will primarily target the U.S. HVAC market. Kaltra is focusing on applications that require corrosion-resistant water coils and high-capacity hydronic cooling systems.

Kaltra developed the tube configurations for coastal installations, industrial atmospheres, glycol-based systems and aggressive water chemistry. These environments can increase corrosion risk and shorten the service life of conventional coil designs.

Key features of the new microchannel water coil line include:

  • Thicker-wall microchannel multiport tube construction
  • Sacrificial zinc corrosion-protection layer
  • Nano coating on internal and external tube surfaces
  • Improved corrosion resistance and mechanical durability
  • Configuration for hydronic and process cooling systems
  • Extended operational life in demanding HVAC environments

Kaltra also installed automated tube-processing and manifold punching equipment. The equipment allows production of one-piece headers for microchannel water coils.

The manufacturing setup helps maintain low water-side pressure drop despite the thicker tube walls. This supports hydraulic efficiency in high-flow HVAC and industrial cooling systems.

Additional engineering advantages include:

  • Lower water-side pressure drop
  • Reduced pumping energy consumption
  • Improved flow distribution across large coil surfaces
  • Reduced leakage risk through one-piece header construction
  • Enhanced pressure integrity and system reliability

Compared with conventional fin-and-tube water coils, Kaltra microchannel water coils use lower internal fluid volume. The design can reduce water and glycol usage while supporting overall system efficiency.

Kaltra also expanded its product nomenclature for application-specific microchannel heat exchanger design. The structure allows coil geometry, coatings, tube configurations and manifold dimensions to be specified for individual project requirements.
