Koenig & Bauer is advancing industrial print efficiency with the launch of Rapida 106 X sheetfed offset press. The press combines autonomous operation and advanced automation to streamline production. Designed for high-volume commercial printing, the Rapida 106 X helps companies increase production of saleable sheets in less time.
Maximum Productivity and Autonomous Processes
The Rapida 106 X is a sheetfed press and can print up to 22,000 sheets per hour. In perfecting mode, it reaches speeds of up to 20,000 sheets per hour.
With its AutoRun function, the press automatically starts print jobs, counts good sheets, stops when targets are reached, and changes to the next job without manual intervention. This level of automation reduces operator intervention and supports continuous production.

Minimal Makeready Times, Maximum Flexibility
To support faster job changes, the Rapida 106 X includes automated features that reduce makeready time. Its printing plate logistics system handles plate transport automatically – from a plate trolley or plate setter to the changing shafts and back to a central plate storage area. This automation saves on labor and speeds up job changeover. It also ensures all printing plates are positioned in the changing shafts.
At high printing speeds and with short runs, changing plates on an eight-color Rapida 106 X is possible for only a short duration. The plate logistics system addresses this by changing all plates automatically, allowing a new print job to start about every three minutes.
DriveTronic SPC enables simultaneous printing plate changes during other makeready processes, reducing job changeover time. The FlyingJobChange function enables version and language changes without stopping production. PrintClean replaces blanket washing for small runs, improving machine uptime.

Excellent Print Quality and Smart Operation
The Rapida 106 X maintains high print quality with advanced control systems. Automatic paper stretch compensation keeps register consistent across the sheet. Inline quality monitoring compares each print with the prepress PDF and uses grey balance control to check and adjust print results.
The LED-UV system enables immediate post-press and color quality, even on uncoated papers. The same technology supports UV coating applications such as cover production.
The LiveApp suite supports machine operation and warehouse management. A control console and central substrate database simplify setup by transmits all machine settings data to each machine component.
High Diversity of Features for Different Market Requirements
The Rapida 106 X offers configuration options for a range of production needs. It supports inline finishing with a perforating unit, similar to the CutPRO X 106, for producing postcards, competitions, vouchers, and tear-off sections. A reel sheeter allows the use of reel stock, improving stability with thin substrates and reducing downtime by providing printing material per roll than pallet stock.

With its performance and productivity parameters, the Rapida 106 X is the future-oriented production tool in industrial commercial printing, from label and folding carton production to specialties.
