BOISBRIAND, Canada, Apr 7, 2026 – Kontron has launched the Ace Flight 4609, an avionics server for in-flight entertainment and connectivity (IFE&C) systems, using updated Intel processing, DDR5 memory, and 5G/LTE connectivity to handle onboard data and network workloads.
The Ace Flight 4609 combines onboard computing with an avionics-grade design to manage content distribution, connectivity functions, and airline operational applications. It processes data and network traffic required for connected aircraft systems.
The unit integrates high-speed networking, avionics interfaces, and removable storage. This allows airlines and connectivity providers to run multiple applications while maintaining manageable integration and supporting future upgrades.
Kontron built the Ace Flight 4609 for aviation operating conditions, focusing on reliability and environmental requirements in a compact form factor. Compared with the Ace Flight 4608, which used an 8-core Intel Xeon processor and DDR4 memory, the Ace Flight 4609 uses a 14-core Intel i7 Raptor Lake processor with 64 GB of DDR5 memory and 5G/LTE connectivity. This configuration increases processing capacity, throughput, and storage for connected aircraft operations.
“With airlines continuing to expand digital services onboard, computing performance in the aircraft is more important than ever,” said Yves Beaumont, product manager, avionics at Kontron. “The Ace Flight 4609 provides a powerful and scalable platform to support the next generation of connected aircraft applications.”
