DRESDEN, Germany, Mar 18, 2026 – Kontron, through its subsidiary Kontron AIS GmbH, has released FabEagleLC 5.5, an update for industrial automation line control. The version 5.5 adds process transparency and reliability for manufacturing operations. It includes functional enhancements that support secure and traceable production in automated environments.

Advanced Carrier Management for Precise Traceability

Kontron AIS expands carrier management to track products and transport units in automated manufacturing lines. Configurable carrier types map complex material flows, with product data accessible through each carrier. Carrier-in-carrier support enables nested transport structures for production environments with high variability and complex line layouts.

Flexible Workflow Management and Machine Visualization

Kontron AIS improves workflow management with more flexible process control. Users can add, remove, or rearrange process steps without recreating entire workflows. The updated web-based Andon board displays real-time machine metrics, with production data accessible through mobile devices or browsers for full lines or defined machine groups.

CRA-Compliant Security Measures

Kontron AIS updates component libraries in the latest version to improve performance and system stability. The release integrates a Software Bill of Materials (SBOM) that provides visibility into all software components in use. This aligns IT security architecture with current cybersecurity standards, including the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA).

Modernized Interfaces and Improved Data Access for Semiconductor Manufacturing

Kontron AIS migrates the SECS/GEM data interface to the .NET platform to improve performance and integration in semiconductor backend production. The update also enables access to raw data from the archive database through the line controller client.

Extended Diagnostic Functions in TIA Portal

Kontron AIS enhances its PLC interface block for the TIA Portal (from TIA version 19) with expanded diagnostic capabilities. Machine builders and maintenance teams gain visibility into block status, enabling faster fault identification and resolution. This supports higher equipment availability.
