SHANGHAI, China, Aug 4, 2026 – Liebherr-Aerospace Technology (Shanghai) has begun construction on a 16,000-square-meter manufacturing plant in Shanghai’s Lingang New Area to support COMAC’s C919 aircraft program. The plant will produce structural steel components, perform surface-treatment processes and provide local machining and assembly support for COMAC’s C919 passenger aircraft.
The new plant is located in the northern section of Phase III of the Large Aircraft Industrial Park, covers a gross floor area of about 16,000 square meters. The building spans 30 meters and height of 18.30 meters.
The plant’s output focuses on structural steel components for aircraft landing gear systems. Local manufacturing reduces the long-distance logistics and transportation costs the C919 landing gear program currently requires and shortens turnaround times for COMAC.
