SAN FRANCISCO, CA, Sep 9, 2026 – Lightsage has raised $4 million to help software companies sell to a new kind of buyer: AI coding agents. Nexus Venture Partners led the round, backing what the company calls Agent-Led Growth (ALG), the work of making products easy for agents to find and use.
Other backers include former Salesforce CTO Steven Tamm, Postman CEO Abhinav Asthana, Apollo CEO Matt Curl, DocuSign president and GM of growth Robert Chatwani, former GitLab head of growth Hila, Resend CEO Zeno, Firecrawl co-founder Eric, Daytona CEO Ivan, Tinyfish COO Shuhao and Adam Frankl.
Agents as Buyers
The next software customer may never visit a homepage or sit through a demo. Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and similar coding agents can discover products, choose libraries, install SDKs and call APIs on a user’s behalf. An agent can pick a database, API or authentication provider and start integrating it without visiting the vendor’s website.
Visibility does not finish the sale. The agent still has to read the documentation, choose the right SDK, authenticate and get the product working. Lightsage says existing GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) tools stop at visibility, while its platform measures whether an agent can use the product.
“We are moving from an internet where AI tells people which software to use to one where AI increasingly uses the software itself,” said Jun Liang Lee, CEO and co-founder of Lightsage. “That changes what growth means. Visibility still matters, but the real test is whether an agent can understand your product and get to a successful outcome. We think every software company will eventually need to optimize for that journey to unlock Agent-Led Growth.”
How Lightsage Works
The platform runs simulations across answer engines and coding agents, measuring where a company appears against competitors and what happens next. Agents receive tasks that require navigating documentation, choosing tooling and using APIs, SDKs, CLIs, MCP servers and Agent Skills. Lightsage currently supports Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode.
If an agent fails, or keeps steering toward a competitor, Lightsage reruns the task across products and agents to isolate the cause: discoverability, confusing documentation, authentication, an API endpoint, an SDK implementation or an incompatible MCP server. Teams fix the issue, rerun the workflow and measure whether agent success improves.
The Lightsage platform also tracks agent traffic: when agents visit a company’s website or docs, what they interact with and whether those visits turn into product usage. Lightsage plans to feed those insights back into development and deployment workflows so products improve for agents over time.
Lightsage is starting with developer software, where agent behavior is already easy to observe. Customers including Firecrawl, Reducto, Daytona, Rime and Tinyfish use the platform to see why agents choose certain products, where integrations break and how key workflows perform after product or documentation changes.
Attribution Challenges
Agent traffic is harder to attribute than human traffic. Agents can discover, evaluate and use a product without producing searches, clicks or sign-ups, and different agents approach the same product in different ways as models and interfaces change. Lightsage argues that Agent Experience, how easily agents can understand, use and pay for a product, will become as central to growth as Developer Experience became to winning human developers.
“The internet brought the economy online, with humans discovering, choosing and transacting through digital channels. That created an enormous marketing technology industry focused on understanding and optimizing the human journey,” said Abhishek Sharma, partner at Nexus. “AI is now shifting that agency from humans to agents, which can discover, evaluate and act on a customer’s behalf. Lightsage is building the intelligence infrastructure for this new era of autonomous browsing, helping companies optimize for agent conversion, not just awareness.”

Lightsage develops software that tracks how AI agents discover and use online products and services. Founded in 2026, the company is headquartered in San Francisco, CA. Its software analyzes agent activity across websites, documentation, APIs, command-line interfaces and Model Context Protocol tools. It supports coding agents including Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode. Customers include software developers and companies providing developer tools, APIs and internet services. Named customers include Firecrawl, Reducto, Daytona, Rime and Tinyfish. Lightsage also operates DevToolArena, which measures how coding agents select and use developer tools. The company raised $4 million in funding in September 2026, led by Nexus Venture Partners.
