VIENNA, Austria, Oct 17, 2025 – Lithoz has announced the installation of three CeraFab System S65 printers at Safran Aircraft Engines in Gennevilliers, near Paris. The investment supports serial production of ceramic casting cores used in turbine blades to meet aircraft engine cooling requirements.
The printers use Lithoz’s lithography-based ceramic manufacturing (LCM) process, combined with ceramic materials co-developed with Safran. The result is a repeatable and scalable solution that applies Lithoz LCM ceramic 3D printing in the aerospace industry.
Raising turbine inlet temperatures is key for improving engine performance. Components should withstand higher heat levels to maintain efficiency. Cooling channels formed during the casting process manage these temperatures in turbine blades. Lithoz’s LCM technology enables this by producing ceramic casting cores. Lithoz’s LCM technology enables casting core designs unattainable with traditional ceramic methods.
Safran Aircraft Engines selected the equipment for its performance and short production time. Its ergonomics and software are suited for manufacturing and meet aeronautical traceability standards. Lithoz’s technical expertise and responsiveness helped the project stay on schedule.
Johannes Homa, Lithoz CEO: “The installation of these three CeraFab S65 printers is a true milestone for both Lithoz and the aerospace industry. As Safran Aircraft Engines move forward to further develop their serial additive manufacturing process for ceramic casting cores, Lithoz remains strongly committed to providing our constant support in this important project.”
