Moon World Resorts proposes a mega-scale destination that brings a simulacrum of lunar exploration and space tourism to Earth. The centrepiece of the project, simply dubbed Moon, is designed to be the largest true spherical building on the planet. With an overall height and diameter far surpassing existing spherical structures, this building would house a 4,000-room hotel and a central “authentic” lunar surface for visitors to explore, with the intention of delivering an immersive moon-like experience on terrestrial soil, tells this New Atlas article.
In addition to the massive sphere, the concept includes a host of supporting infrastructure. Surrounding the main structure, 20 tower buildings would form a ring around an elevated panoramic walkway, and 16 smaller sphere-shaped buildings would add variety to the resort complex. Ground-level facilities would extend to convention and event spaces, restaurants, wellbeing amenities, and a boutique hotel component. Planned transportation hubs, parking, vertiports, and branded luxury residences position the development as a fully integrated tourism and lifestyle destination.
Initial renderings suggest significant greenery and leisure spaces, with sustainability features such as solar-topped walkways envisioned in the layout. While Moon World Resorts says the project could open as early as 2032 if development proceeds smoothly, the concept remains in the early stages with many design and technical details still undefined.
The proposed resort is intended to sit in a country yet to be determined, with potential sites including locations in the Middle East, Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Developers have pitched the idea as a next-generation tourism destination that could draw millions of visitors annually and extend global interest in space-themed leisure experiences without the need to travel beyond Earth’s atmosphere.
