SAN JOSE, CA, Sep 8, 2026 – MulticoreWare has acquired Simulus Automation, a hardware design and verification firm whose customers develop system-on-chips (SoCs), chipsets and accelerator technologies. The deal adds FPGA and connectivity expertise to MulticoreWare’s software engineering business.
The operation covers silicon design, verification and software deployment in a single pipeline from architecture to production.
“The semiconductor industry is entering a new era driven by heterogeneous compute, intelligent edge devices, and autonomous systems. Bringing Simulus into the MulticoreWare family ensures our clients can benefit from tightly integrated design pipelines, maximize power efficiency, solve interconnect challenges, and accelerate time-to-market,” said AGK Karunakaran, president & CEO, MulticoreWare.
According to MulticoreWare, the acquisition adds three capability areas:
- FPGA-Native Engineering: MulticoreWare pairs its CPU, GPU, DSP and NPU expertise with FPGA capabilities. Its High-Level Synthesis (HLS) and RTL implementation teams support sensor fusion and Physical AI workloads for edge and robotics applications.
- CXL and PCIe connectivity: Simulus brings design and verification expertise in the CXL and PCIe protocols, which handle high-bandwidth, low-latency interconnects for distributed processing.
- Cloud FPGA Scalability: The team can distribute repetitive workloads onto cloud FPGAs, allowing customers to deploy and emulate AI workloads with global hyperscalers.
“Joining MulticoreWare creates exciting opportunities for our employees and customers. By combining Simulus’ design verification expertise with MulticoreWare’s global semiconductor and AI capabilities, we can deliver even greater value to customers developing the next generation of silicon platforms,” said Karthick Gopal, CEO of Simulus Automation.
