Construction teams for the new stadium in Nashville, a $2.1 billion project slated to open in 2027 and host the Tennessee Titans, have leaned heavily on advanced digital tools and workflows. Design architect Manica Architecture worked with builders including Turner Construction Company, AECOM Hunt, and ICF Builders to integrate multiple structural systems while supervising a translucent ETFE roof and frictionless concessions zone, tells Architosh.

Central to the project’s delivery is the use of Autodesk’s BIM ecosystem. Autodesk Revit served as the primary authoring platform for architecture, structure, and MEP systems. Meanwhile, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) acted as the common data environment. Coordination models from other authoring tools (such as Tekla for steel) were translated into Revit format and federated through Revizto for interdisciplinary collaboration.

The stadium’s design features multiple innovations: enclosed translucent roofing for year-round use, seats up to 38% closer to the field compared with the current venue, a 360-degree concourse, expansive terraces, and a 2,275-foot LED “Ring of Fire” display. On the construction side, mixing steel and concrete structural systems was strategically chosen—steel for higher roof levels, removable grandstands, and structural economy; concrete for heavy concourse zones.

The digital strategy extended into fabrication workflows. Subcontractors created fabrication models in Revit, linking with Autodesk Desktop Connector to maintain a live data connection between design and fabrication. Reality-capture drones and sensor systems helped ensure accuracy on site.

Ultimately, the new Nissan Stadium is a demonstration of how large-scale venue construction is changing. The fusion of advanced tools, tight coordination, and digital processes sets the stage for a project that not only delivers architectural ambition but also operational and construction efficiencies that may define future AEC projects.
