
NVIDIA has invested $3.5 billion in convertible bonds issued by MediaTek as the two companies expand their collaboration across AI infrastructure, local AI computing, and automotive.
Custom AI infrastructure: NVLink Fusion Platform
MediaTek will adopt NVIDIA’s NVLink Fusion platform as the design foundation for customers building custom XPUs. NVLink Fusion gives hyperscalers, cloud service providers, and frontier model developers a pre-validated path to custom accelerators that connect into NVIDIA NVLink rack-scale AI factories.
The NVLink Fusion platform brings together the technology surrounding a custom XPU, including:
- NVIDIA NVLink Fusion chiplet: connects XPUs to the NVIDIA NVLink scale-up fabric over NVIDIA photonics or electrical interconnects.
- NVIDIA NVLink-C2C: provides high-bandwidth, energy-efficient connectivity between XPUs, NVIDIA Rosa CPUs, and other compatible processors.
- NVIDIA NVHBM: integrates customized memory to raise bandwidth and energy efficiency while dedicating more silicon area to compute.
Customers can bring XPU designs to MediaTek and tailor connectivity, memory, packaging, performance, and power to their workloads. The NVLink Fusion ecosystem also includes NVIDIA’s MGX rack-scale architecture.
Local AI computing: RTX Spark and DGX Spark Chips
NVIDIA and MediaTek will continue building multiple generations of NVIDIA RTX Spark and DGX Spark PC chips for consumer PCs, AI developer supercomputers, and enterprise workstations. The chips integrate NVIDIA GPUs with MediaTek SoCs. MediaTek previously collaborated on the GB10 Grace Blackwell Superchip that powers NVIDIA DGX Spark, which pairs an NVIDIA Blackwell GPU with a Grace CPU connected by NVLink-C2C.
Automotive: AI and RTX Graphics for Software-Defined Vehicles
NVIDIA and MediaTek are developing platforms for AI-powered, software-defined vehicles. MediaTek Dimensity Auto platforms integrate NVIDIA technologies for AI and NVIDIA RTX graphics in vehicle cockpits and can work alongside NVIDIA DRIVE AGX.
