NVIDIA Launches Cosmos 3 Edge for Japan’s Physical AI Push

New model runs on Jetson hardware as manufacturers deploy robotics, vision and industrial automation tools

NVIDIA is expanding its footprint in Japan, announcing that the country’s leading physical AI companies are turning to its Cosmos, Isaac, Metropolis and Jetson platforms to speed up the rollout of intelligent machines. The push spans manufacturing, mobility, infrastructure and robotics, industries pivotal to Japan’s industrial identity.

NVIDIA also introduced Cosmos 3 Edge, a new addition to its Cosmos 3 open world model family built to run on Jetson hardware.

Cosmos 3 Edge Specifications

Cosmos 3 Edge is a 4-billion-parameter model built on NVIDIA Nemotron. It lets robots and vision AI agents interpret their surroundings, reason in real time and generate robot actions on NVIDIA edge computers.

Developers can adapt the model for robots, vehicles, sensors and environments in about a day using the open NVIDIA Cosmos framework. The model runs on edge GPUs and can be deployed across NVIDIA RTX GPUs, NVIDIA DGX systems and NVIDIA Jetson modules, including the Jetson T2000 and T3000.

NVIDIA also released new Metropolis libraries that let developers use coding agents to build, train and operate video intelligence systems with Cosmos. The company said the libraries reduce development time by at least 6x faster.

Cosmos Coalition Adds Japanese Members

NVIDIA is expanding the Cosmos Coalition, bringing AI developers and physical AI companies to advance open models with Cosmos technologies.

Japan’s physical AI companies including AIRoA, classmethod, Enactic, FANUC, Fujitsu, GROOVE X, Hitachi, Honda R&D, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Kubota, Mitsui & Co., Mitsubishi Corp., Mujin, NEC, Preferred Networks, SoftBank Corp., Sony Group Corporation, Telexistence, TIER IV, TRON K.K., Turing and Yaskawa Electric intend to join the coalition.

Company Deployments

Fujitsu is working with FANUC, Yaskawa Electric and Kawasaki Heavy Industries on a control platform that integrates NVIDIA’s physical AI stack. The platform draws on Cosmos world foundation models, the Isaac robotics development platform, NVIDIA Omniverse NuRec libraries and the Newton physics engine, and is meant to support AI model development, digital twins, robot learning, simulation-to-real workflows and pre-deployment validation.

NEC, Hitachi, OMRON and Preferred Networks are using Cosmos and other NVIDIA physical AI tools for world model development and industrial AI research.

SoftBank Corp. is building a physical AI development platform on Cosmos, Omniverse and Isaac Sim, and is separately using NVIDIA AI Aerial for AI-RAN initiatives aimed at connectivity for physical AI devices.

Mujin is testing Cosmos for autonomous robotics and industrial automation through its MujinOS software. TRON K.K. is developing manufacturing data workflows for task-specific physical AI models used in assembly, picking, inspection and material handling, along with factory 3D digitization workflows.

Kawasaki Heavy Industries is applying NVIDIA’s physical AI tools across healthcare, shipbuilding, transportation, aerospace and energy. Kubota is testing Cosmos-based physical AI for autonomous agriculture and farming applications.

Enactic is fine-tuning NVIDIA’s Isaac GR00T model for elder-care semi-humanoid robots. GROOVE X is using Jetson to power its LOVOT companion robots. Telexistence is applying Isaac and testing Cosmos for retail automation.

Hitachi is using NVIDIA Metropolis for smart-building operations, OMRON for automated inspection, and Shimizu Corporation for construction site safety monitoring.
