SANTA CLARA, CA, Oct 6, 2026 – OMNIVISION introduced the OG12S10, a 12MP global shutter CMOS image sensor for factory automation and intelligent transportation systems (ITS). The sensor supports exposure times as short as 1 microsecond (µs) and a maximum output of 75 frames per second for imaging fast-moving objects.

The OG12S10 sensor combines 4096 × 3072 resolution with 3.45-micron backside-illuminated pixels in a 1.1-inch optical format. It uses PureCel Plus-S die stacking technology, 12-bit ADC (analog-to-digital conversion) and on-chip dual conversion gain high dynamic range (HDR) imaging.

Nyxel near-infrared (NIR) technology provides quantum efficiency of 60% at 850 nanometers and 40% at 940 nanometers, according to OMNIVISION. The company reports a fivefold quantum efficiency increase over an existing 3.45-micron product.

“In situations where speed, vibration and motion are constant, maintaining image clarity becomes critical. However, not all image sensors are equipped to deliver the consistency required in these conditions,” said Kelly Yan, staff marketing manager, OMNIVISION. “Global shutter sensors, like the OG12S10, address this challenge by capturing each frame with synchronized exposure, eliminating motion-related distortions.”

Additional specifications include:

  • Dynamic range: 74 dB with dual conversion gain HDR.
  • Full well capacity and read noise: 20,000 electrons and 2.8 electrons, respectively, in dual conversion gain (DCG) mode.
  • Shutter efficiency: 106 dB.
  • Interface: 16-lane sub-LVDS to 1.1Gbps and 4-lane MIPI

The OG12S10 GS sensor comes in a ceramic land grid array (CLGA) package. Sampling is scheduled for Nov’26, with mass production in Q4 2026.
