SANTA CLARA, CA, Oct 6, 2026 – OMNIVISION introduced the OG05D, a 5-megapixel (MP) global shutter (GS) image sensor for industrial machine vision and robotics, with a maximum output of 146 frames per second (fps) in linear mode. The sensor combines single-exposure high dynamic range (HDR) imaging with near-infrared sensitivity for barcode scanners, factory automation, AI cameras and humanoid robotics, including robotics training data collection.

OMNIVISION said the maximum linear-mode output is 143% faster than previous-generation sensors. The OG05D uses 2.2-micron pixels in a stacked backside-illuminated CMOS design. Its dual conversion gain technology supports low-noise imaging and single-exposure HDR, which reduces motion artifacts associated with multiple-exposure approaches. The design also incorporates Nyxel near-infrared (NIR) technology and RGB-IR on-chip processing.

“The rapid growth of industrial machine vision and robotics is driving demand for image sensors specifically designed for these emerging applications,” said Kelly Yan, staff product marketing manager, OMNIVISION. “Our new OG05D sensor delivers the ideal combination of compact size, high-speed imaging, excellent HDR performance and industry-leading low power consumption, enabling customers to build smaller, more capable and power-efficient industrial vision systems.”

The OG05D sensor has a 1/2.5-inch optical format and a package measuring 6.6 mm × 5.3 mm. OMNIVISION says it is 30% smaller than previous-generation sensors and consumes 30% less power than its previous-generation 5-megapixel product.

OMNIVISION identifies object detection and navigation in factories, warehouses and outdoor settings with changing lighting conditions as applications for the sensor’s HDR capability.

Key specifications of OG05D GS sensor include:

  • Pixel design: 2.2µm, 5MP backside-illuminated global shutter architecture with HDR above 70 dB.
  • Near-infrared response: Nyxel technology enhances NIR QE at 850nm (>55%) and 940nm (>35%)
  • HDR output: 60 fps with dual conversion gain (DCG) single-exposure HDR and on-chip combination, 60 fps with three-exposure (3s) HDR and on-chip combination.
  • Image formats and processing: RGB, monochrome and RGB-IR support, with RGB-IR on-chip re-mosaic processing.

The OG05D is available for sampling, with mass production scheduled in Q4 2026.
