OPmobility will source renewable electricity from EDP’s Las Lomillas photovoltaic plant in Spain under an energy supply agreement starting in 2026. The contract will cover about 25% of OPmobility’s electricity needs in Spain, adding another renewable supply channel after the company reported Scope 1 and Scope 2 carbon neutrality in 2025.
The agreement includes an electricity supply contract and a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with EDP. Under the PPA, renewable electricity from EDP’s Las Lomillas photovoltaic plant will supply renewable electricity for about a quarter of OPmobility’s current Spanish operations under contracted cost terms.
OPmobility said its 2025 Scope 1 and Scope 2 carbon neutrality result followed a commitment made in 2021. The company linked the result to a 19% improvement in energy efficiency since 2019, increased renewable energy use, and 38 sites equipped with solar panels or wind turbines by the end of 2025.
In addition, OPmobility has secured 10 renewable energy supply agreements, including PPAs and virtual PPAs, in Europe and Asia. OPmobility is also targeting a 30% reduction in upstream and downstream Scope 3 CO2 emissions by 2030, compared with 2019, as it works toward a net-zero target for 2050.
David Meneses, executive vice-president people & sustainability, said: “By securing a significant amount of renewable energy from a referenced solar farm for its Spanish operations, OPmobility is continuing the decarbonization of its assets, which has led to successfully reaching carbon neutrality on scopes 1 and 2 in 2025. The Group is thus demonstrating the decarbonization can be made at competitive costs and strengthening its position as a sustainability leader in rapidly evolving mobility markets.”
